three day weekend

It was a full weekend.  I started some salad mix indoors, along with mint and mustard. Then I pulled out the dead tomato vines from my big front garden bed.  After sprinkling a layer of homemade compost on the soil, I covered it with straw.  The straw is a good mulch, plus, it helps keep our gardens looking tidy in the winter.  This is important in a city.  People might like the idea of urban gardening, but they don’t like messy working farm style yards.

I also feed my winter garlic some compost.  I’m sure it will like it.

We celebrated my friend’s birthday with Korean BBQ and late night dessert.  It was really fun.  Grilling up our own food on an open pit table was cool.  We wrapped the delicious food in lettuce and ate it like burritos.  Sooo good.

I had another friend over for wine and lentils two nights later.   Conversation and company.  Good friends make my life so much better than it would be without them.  They make the difference.
