warmth

The sun holds warmth now.  It is glorious.  The warmth in the air lets me know that spring is here.

Tulips are blooming.  Apparently the tulips in my backyard liked all the compost I gave them (recall that that is the same bed that I mulched up and planted with garlic last fall).  Where we normally have one tulip bloom, this year we have three.  As of this morning, they still had their buds wrapped tightly up, but the color was showing brightly.  Perhaps by tomorrwo morning they will open up their beautiful faces.

Last year for valentines day my husband got me two types of potted tulips.  When the weather warmed I planted them as a border at the forward end of the big side bed in our front yard.  They survived, and this year they have come back.  They too are showing their color a bit.  I like that my husband was thoughtful enough to give me living flowers that could continue to grow.  The tulips seem like a testament to our love.  It makes me happy to see them there.
