Finished the garlic bed tonight while the baby slept.  Well almost finished it.  Still needs boards or whatnot on both ends.  But the sides are walled in.  Another example of turning waste into want.  The previous tenants left behind some stuff, including a few concrete blocks, which were piled up near the back steps looking ratty.  I used them as part of the border for one of the long sides of the bed; they prop up two narrow boards that together go the length of the bed.  I also mulched with straw that got left out in the rain.  No good anymore for warmth and insulation for inside the chicken coop, but great mulch for garlic.
