Expanded Chicken Run

A couple of weeks ago I expanded our chicken’s enclosure. They were so fed up with being cooped up. I sense that they have started to forgive me a little.

When the chicken run was first built here there was an additional area that was partially fenced off for them but never completed. It runs between the side of our house and the fence that divides our yard from our neighbor’s yard.

I finished fencing it in and opened up a section of fence to allow them access. Now the ladies have more room to forage, dig, scratch and lay. They are enjoying it.

Over the course of the year that we have been here the untouched area has grown lush and full. It is overgrown by most standards. But just perfect by chicken standards. They are slowly turning the green to brown as they eat their way through the dense foliage. They are literally exploring foot by foot.
