Trying Times

These first few days in our new home have been hard. The home is beautiful, with lovely touches everywhere. In some ways we are feeling lucky to live in such a nice house. The land stretches around us and our dog can sniff around and lay in the sun (rain?). Our baby can dig in the dirt (mud?), and pull at grass. Some aspects are very nice.

Unfortunately, the paint is chipping really easily, and as it chips it is reveling lead paint underneath. The exterior paint is also chipping and lead paint chips are laying on the ground at the base of the house.

I was comforted the other day by the opening lyrics to ‘Uncle John’s Band’ by the Grateful Dead; ‘The first days are the hardest days.’ So often this is true, and I am hoping that a few weeks will find us clear of these obstacles and loving our new home.
