My Little Fall Garden

Promptly after moving in I began my fall garden. I scraped off a thin top layer of soil containing plants like plantain and ‘belly button’ plant. I dug little holes and placed in plants that I had started at our old house. Kale, Collards, and Parsley. The collards I started from seed last February or March. I also replanted celery and arugula that I had dug up from our old house. I planted sprouted garlic given to me by a friend, and a sprouted onion, from which to harvest green onions this winter.

Today I found the seeds I was hoping to find (in a random box), and planted radishes, bloomsdale spinach, and mesclun mix. I hope they have a chance to get established. Perhaps the garden will need a row cover.

It sets my soul to peace to know that I have a garden in the ground.
