The Week and a Half Quilt

I started this quilt several years ago intending for it to be a family quilt. I have recently decided that I will make it, instead, for someone special to me. Shhh, it’s a solstice surprise. One week left and I don’t even feel rushed. Nap times are quilting times. Today River slept for three hours!

Here is the ‘heart’ of the quilt; the inner 15 squares. Big squares are a saving grace.

The outer panels of the quilt. These will soon be sewn to the heart to form the complete front of the quilt.

Here is an up close look at the light gold squares, which blend in amazingly well with the floor and make them hard to see in the previous pictures.

My favorite bandana squares. You may remember them from classics such as my quilted potholders and my double layered kitchen cloth.

Here is my quilt plan. This is about as fancy as it gets around here.

My cozy sewing space!

More to come…
