      Hi there,

Yes, raspberries can be grown in containers. We are renters and our landlords have asked that we not plant anything that spreads, so I have kept my mint and raspberiies in large containers.

The bigger the container, the better. And I have noticed that mine need some amendments (kind of like fertilizer) now that they have been in these containers for several years. They also need extra water in the summer since they dry out faster than raspberries which are planted in the ground. I live in Portland OR, where we have mild winters. I’m not sure if raspberries would survive winters in containers in a cold climate, I have never tried that before. It freezes a few times a winter here and snows once or twice, but mostly is just chilly and rainy.

Best of luck to you. I love having certain plants that I know will go with us where ever we move. I dream of a raspberry patch, but for now my containers bring us joy and bring fresh berries for the family to snack on.

What'd ya think?
